My Adventures Trying to get to Australia

I get to the LAX airport, Tuesday, at 1pm and my cousin doesn't get off work to pick me up until 5pm. So I have a long time before Kate picks me up. I sit at a cafe and watched John Tucker Must Die, then I just roamed around the airport with all my carry on luggage. Kate forgets her phone at home so I get her number from Nick and call her at work to figure out when she is coming and where we were meeting. She makes it and we go get dinner and hang out! I'm relieved to just get out of the airport. I had a lot of fun! We had gotten nachos which I thought would be okay and not too spicy but I did get a little sick.

When I was dropped off at the airport again I was told that I didn't have a visa to be in Australia. I tried to get online and my parents tried to get on my email account to see if it had gone through at all, no such luck. Frustration is building! The desk agents are amazing they help me get a visitors visa which I had to pay a full $22 for a visitors visa on top of the $265 workers visa I have applied to. So thankfully I got on the flight at the very last minute. but I was first class in the wonderful seats up there! I was excited and relieved. I grabbed my small bottle of alcohol and a glass of coke! I felt much better than when I was in the airport.

When ever I'm faced with frustration I tend to cry and airports there is massive frustration. I was proud of myself I took out my stress ball and used some breathing techniques and never cried full out maybe a tear but that's it.

I arrive in Sydney, Thursday, at 6am and wait 45 minutes for a taxi/bus to get to the hostel. I stay at Wake Up! which is very familiar to me because I've been there before. I have a full day to hang out and walk around. I arrive, check in, get online and take a nap around 1pm, take the free bus to the Opera House and circular quay. I meet up with Ian, a cool guy I met in Paris in February, where part of his family lives here. went to dinner and went to bed early!

The next morning, Friday, around 11 or so the rest of my group came in. and we hung out at Darling Harbor and around the hostel. Then Saturday off to Ballina!

I arrive in Ballina and meet the best host mum ever!! We just chill the first night then Sunday she takes us into Byron to see the light house and some shops. We walk around and had lunch near the beach!

My Life is an Adventure

Since I was born I have had the privelage of traveling around the world because my father works for an airline. I never try to gloat or act as if I am better than a person, I just enjoy this opportunity that I have been given. Because I have this opportunity I feel I'm a more educated and open-eyed person. "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." by Saint Augustine. I completely agree with this quote because each place I travel is a new page in the book I have experienced. One does not learn by being closed off from the world but embracing all the world has to give. By traveling to different places in the world I have been able learn and discover more about myself and the world around me. I have been able to appreciate where I live and everything I have.

I might be traveling as a tourist where go and I see what I have come to see but not what I should discover. I have traveled around the world and back with my parents and now that I am old enough I want to rediscover the places that I've already been to to learn more about them.

The most recent trip I have taken without my parents was with one of my best friends Jessica to Paris, France. We saw all the tourist sights like the first time but we recieved advice from people who lived in Paris as to where to go. Because we found people who lived in the area we were able to see the true culture of Paris and we loved it. We met wonderful people and did many wonderful things, including going to a caberet, visiting new friends restaurant and staying out most the night during our last few days. In the beginning neither of us spoke very good french and by the end of our 6 day adventure we were able to get around and even had few parisians thinking we spoke fluently.
I would love to go back to paris because it is my favorite lanugage and culture I want to learn more of.

Right now my next adventure is student teaching and studying abroad in Ballina, Australia! My new adventures start as early as Monday the 23rd!
Since I've already been to Australia I can spend less time seeing the sights and more time seeing past them and into the Australian culture!
